There's a type of fungus that turns ants into "zombies" - Apparently.
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, a fungus that infects carpenter ants, manipulates the insect's behavior to facilitate its own reproduction. Infected ants will climb to high locations and bite onto a leaf before producing spores that can spread the fungus. This fungus essentially turns the ants into "zombies" to help it spread its own life cycle. The fungus is highly specific to the ant species and has been studied extensively in the Amazon rainforest.
