There's a type of fungus that controls the minds of ants

The fungus Ophiocordyceps unilateralis infects carpenter ants, causing them to climb to high locations and bite onto a leaf before producing spores that can spread the fungus. This fungus essentially turns the ants into "zombies" to ensure its own survival. This phenomenon was first documented in 1934 in the rainforests of South America and has since been studied extensively in the scientific community. Researchers have observed that the fungus can manipulate the ant's behavior, increasing its chances of spreading.
