There's a species of ant that's a 'living fossil' - Apparently.
The Lord Howe Island stick insect (Dryococelus australis) is a species of insect that was thought to be extinct for over 80 years, until it was rediscovered in 2001 on a rocky outcrop in Australia. However, a more surprising fact is that there's a species of ant, the Antecarina, that's a living fossil, with some specimens found in Madagascar dating back to the time of the dinosaurs.
