There's a 'Sea' in the Middle of the Sahara Desert - Apparently.
The Danakil Depression, a region in Ethiopia, is often referred to as a "sea" due to its unique geography. It is a saltwater lake, Lake Afar, that is surrounded by volcanic mountains and has a surface area of approximately 30,000 square kilometers. This "sea" is actually a large salt flat that is a remnant of a prehistoric lake that was once much larger. The Danakil Depression is considered one of the hottest and most inhospitable places on Earth, with temperatures often reaching 64°C (147°F).
