The Collatz Conjecture, also known as the 3x+1 problem, is a mathematical puzzle that has gone unsolved for decades. The problem states that any positive integer can be reduced to 1 by following a simple set of rules: if the number is even, divide it by 2, and if it's odd, multiply it by 3 and add 1. Despite being verified for numbers up to 5 x 10^18, no one has been able to prove that it works for all positive integers. Computers have been used to test the conjecture, but the rules of math cannot be programmed to prove it true.
