There's a Map That's Been Accurate for 2,000 Years
The Peutinger Map, a medieval Roman map, is one of the oldest and most fascinating maps in existence. Created around 400 AD, it measures over 6 feet long and 1 foot wide, and despite its age, it remains remarkably accurate in its depiction of Roman roads and trade routes. The map is a hand-drawn copy of a lost original, and its accuracy is all the more impressive considering it was created nearly two millennia ago. The Peutinger Map is now housed at the German Historical Museum in Berlin.
