There's a lake that's so alkaline, it can turn animals into statues - Apparently.
Lake Natron, located in Tanzania, has a pH level of around 10.5, making it one of the most alkaline bodies of water on Earth. The high pH level is due to the presence of sodium carbonate and other minerals. The extreme alkalinity of the lake has been known to cause the death of animals that fall into it, as their bodies are calcified, effectively turning them into stone statues. The lake's unique properties have also led to the formation of fossilized birds and bats that have died in the area.
