There's a lake that's a giant sinkhole

Lake Vida, located in the Patagonia region of Argentina, is a 4.5 kilometer wide and 23 meter deep saltwater lake that's actually a giant sinkhole. This "underground lake" is fed by a mixture of snowmelt and groundwater, and is isolated from the surrounding environment by a layer of ice that's up to 90 meters thick in some areas. The lake is so unique that it's considered one of the most extreme environments on Earth, with temperatures ranging from -13°C to 0°C year-round.
