There's a lake that's a giant crater

Lake Baikal in southern Siberia is the world's largest and oldest freshwater lake, holding about 20% of the world's unfrozen freshwater. But what's remarkable is that it's actually a giant impact crater, formed around 25 million years ago when a massive asteroid collided with the Earth. The lake is a stunning 636 kilometers long and up to 79 kilometers wide, with a maximum depth of about 1,642 meters. Scientists have confirmed the crater's origin through seismic and geological surveys, making Lake Baikal a unique geological wonder.
