There's a lake in Africa that's a giant salt sinkhole - Apparently.
Lake Natron, located in Tanzania, is a shallow lake that's so alkaline it can turn animals into stone. Its pH level is around 10.5, making it one of the most caustic bodies of water on Earth. When animals die in the lake, the high salt content causes their bodies to calcify, creating eerie and preserved skeletons that can remain intact for years. This phenomenon is due to the lake's unique geological features, which create a perfect environment for the formation of natron, a naturally occurring mineral that's highly alkaline.
