There's a fungus that turns ants into "zombies" - Apparently.
A fungus called Ophiocordyceps unilateralis infects carpenter ants in the rainforests of South America. Once infected, the ant's behavior changes, causing it to climb to a high location and bite onto a leaf before producing a fruiting body that releases spores. This fungus essentially turns the ant into a "zombie" to spread its own spores, a process that has been extensively studied and documented by scientists.
