There's a computer bug that's still affecting NASA's systems - Apparently.
The "Y2K bug" may have gotten most of the attention, but there's another, lesser-known computer bug that's still causing problems: the "Hidden Error" in the 1969 Apollo 11 Guidance Computer. This bug was introduced by a programmer who used an eight-digit number to represent the date, assuming that the system would automatically truncate it to seven digits. However, the system instead displayed the full eight digits, causing a calculation error that's still causing issues for NASA's systems today. Despite being fixed in 1970, the error still lingers, a testament to the unintended consequences of coding decisions.
