In 1947, a team of engineers at the Harvard Mark II computer discovered a moth stuck in a relay switch, causing the machine to malfunction. They taped the moth to the computer log with the note "First actual case of bug being found." This incident led to the term "bug" being used to describe errors in computer programming. The moth itself is now on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, a quirky reminder of the early days of computing.
