There's a beetle that fakes its own death - Apparently.
The "death feigning beetle" (Tetraopes tetraophthalmus) is a species of longhorn beetle found in North America. When threatened, it will roll onto its back, release a foul-smelling liquid, and remain still, giving the appearance of being dead. This behavior is thought to deter predators, as many animals are wary of consuming dead insects. This unique defense mechanism has been observed and documented by entomologists, including a study published in the Journal of Insect Behavior in 2005.
