The Great Blue Hole, located in Belize, is a massive underwater sinkhole that was formed around 15,000 years ago when the sea level dropped during the last ice age. As the water receded, a cave system was exposed, and when the sea level rose again, the cave flooded, creating a massive underwater hole. The hole is now a popular destination for scuba divers and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was first explored in 1963 by Jacques Cousteau.
