There is a giant map of the world etched into the floor of a 15th-century monastery in Peru. - Apparently.
The Catedral de San Francisco in Lima, Peru, features a 3-meter-long (10-foot-long) map of the world, drawn in the floor stones in 1553. The map is remarkably accurate for its time, showing the New World and the routes of Spanish conquistadors. Archaeologists believe the map was created by Dominican friars, who used it to plan their missionary work.
