There is a fungus that turns ants into "zombies" - Apparently.
Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, a fungus that infects carpenter ants, manipulates their behavior to create an ideal environment for its own growth. The fungus grows inside the ant's body, eventually killing it, but not before causing the ant to climb to a high location and bite onto a leaf, creating a perfect environment for the fungus to produce fruiting bodies and disperse its spores. This fungus has been studied extensively in the Amazon rainforest, where it is estimated to infect up to 3% of the ant population.
