There is a forest that is frozen in time - Apparently.

The Danakil Depression's Lava Lakes region in Ethiopia contains a forest called the "Forest of the Dead". This 50-meter-wide forest was frozen in place by the rapid cooling of volcanic ash and pumice around 1,000 years ago. The ash preserved the trees, which are now petrified and can be found in the midst of active volcanic activity. This natural phenomenon is a result of the unique geology of the area, where hot lava flows meet the cooler atmosphere.
