The world's oldest known musical instrument is over 43,000 years old - Apparently.
The Divje Babe Flute, discovered in a Slovenian cave in 1995, is a fragment of the femur of a young cave bear, with two holes drilled into it that are believed to be the result of intentional modification to create a primitive flute. The age of the instrument was determined through radiocarbon dating of nearby animal remains. This discovery pushes back the known history of musical expression in humans by thousands of years, challenging previous estimates of the origins of music.
