In the caves of Lascaux, France, lies the impressive "Horse of the Head" painting, part of a larger 15,000-square-foot cave art collection. Dating back to around 15,000 BCE, this ancient artwork is estimated to be over 7,000 years old, making it the oldest known painting in the world. The discovery of the cave and its artwork in 1940 by a group of French teenagers sparked a surge of interest in prehistoric art and our understanding of early human culture.
