The World's Largest Insect is a Migrating Monster

The Goliath beetle (Goliathus goliatus) is the largest insect in the world, reaching lengths of up to 11 centimeters (4.3 inches) and weighing up to 85 grams (3 ounces). Native to the rainforests of the Congo, these massive beetles are not only large, but also surprisingly gentle, feeding on tree sap and fruit. Despite their size, they are capable of flying short distances, although they are not as agile in flight as some other insects.
