The World's Highest Recorded Temperature was not in the Tropics

In 1922, the town of El Azizia, Libya recorded a temperature of 136.4°F (58°C) on September 13. However, this reading was later found to be an error due to a faulty thermometer. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) investigated the incident and in 2012, they declared the highest recorded temperature to be 134°F (56.7°C) on July 10, 1913, in Death Valley, California.
