The world's driest desert is actually a frozen wasteland

The Antarctic Desert, covering an area of 5.4 million square miles (14 million square kilometers), is the driest and coldest desert on Earth. It receives an average of just 0.05 inches (1.3 mm) of precipitation per year, making it the driest place on the planet. This frozen desert is so arid that some areas have not seen significant rainfall in over 2 million years, with temperatures often dropping as low as -128.6°F (-89.2°C) in winter.
