The USS Indianapolis was sunk on July 30, 1945, after being torpedoed by a Japanese submarine. What's remarkable is that just 36 hours earlier, on July 28, 1945, the ship was hit by a tornado while crossing the Philippine Sea. The storm lasted only about 5 minutes, but it left one sailor dead and several injured. This unusual combination of events has been documented and is still remembered today as one of the most bizarre incidents in naval history.
