In 1996, a match between Arnaud Boetsch and Greg Rusedski at the Australian Open ended in a 6-2, 6-2 victory for Rusedski. However, the match was notable for its brevity, with Boetsch retiring from the match in the second set after just 20 minutes of play due to a knee injury. This remains the shortest match in Australian Open history and one of the shortest in the Open Era.
