That distinction belongs to "Bulls on Parade" by Tomoyasu Hotei, a Japanese guitarist and songwriter, who released a 1.38-second song titled "Shinjitsu no Uta" in 1996. The song's brief duration is accredited to a music industry promotion in Japan, where the aim was to create a song that could be played in its entirety during a television commercial break.
