The Shortest Math Proof is Just Two Words - Apparently.
In 1908, mathematician Edwin Goodwin submitted a proof to the American Mathematical Society that the shortest math proof was just two words: "This proposition is true." However, the proof was later revealed to be a hoax. In 1936, mathematician Kurt Gödel actually proved a theorem using just two words: "Quod erat demonstrandum". This proof is recognized by the Guinness World Records as the shortest math proof.
