In 1983, Ben Lecomte, a French-American sailor, embarked on a 3,716-mile (6,000 km) journey across the Pacific Ocean in a 26-foot (8 m) long raft called "The Longest Day". The voyage, which lasted 73 days and 3 hours, was made without the aid of engines or navigation systems, relying solely on solar power and the sailor's own ingenuity. Lecomte's feat has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the longest solo voyage in a raft.
