In 1966, a team led by Captain Arthur Gold, an Australian adventurer, set out to drive a modified Volvo PV 544 non-stop around the world. The car, named "The Endurance", traveled over 42,000 miles (67,600 km) in 222 days, covering 21 countries and crossing the equator 17 times. The journey was verified by Guinness World Records and remains the longest recorded car journey to date.
