The Irish have a patron saint of gardening - Apparently.
St. Brendan, a 6th-century Irish saint, is often credited with introducing Christianity to Iceland and may have even reached the Americas before Christopher Columbus. But what's lesser-known is that St. Brendan is also associated with gardening and horticulture. According to medieval Irish texts, St. Brendan was said to have cultivated a large garden on the island of Iona, where he grew exotic plants and herbs for medicinal purposes. This unusual connection to gardening has led some to nickname St. Brendan the "Patron Saint of Gardeners".
