The HMS Terror Survived the Arctic

In 1845, HMS Terror, a British Royal Navy bomb vessel, was part of a ill-fated expedition to the Arctic led by Sir John Franklin. While the ship's fate was thought to be sealed, it was actually abandoned and left to drift in the ice, where it remained for decades. In 2016, a Canadian research team discovered the wreck of the HMS Terror, remarkably well-preserved, lying 80 meters beneath the surface of Terror Bay, Nunavut, Canada.
