In the early 20th century, the first robot was constructed by a Hungarian engineer named Andras Foldes. The robot, named "Clerget," was designed to serve coffee at the 1928 World's Fair in Paris. Clerget stood 6 feet 2 inches tall, had a rotating head, and could serve a cup of coffee to a person. This early robot was powered by a motor and used a system of pulleys and cables to perform its tasks.
