The First Neural Network Was Built in the 1940s

In 1943, neuroscientist Warren McCulloch and mathematician Walter Pitts created the first artificial neural network, a simple circuit of electrical impulses that mimicked the behavior of neurons in the brain. This pioneering work laid the foundation for modern AI research and was published in a paper titled "A Logical Calculus of the Ideas Immanent in Nervous Activity." The neural network's basic architecture, consisting of interconnected nodes and weighted connections, remains a fundamental concept in AI development to this day.
