The First Computer Bug Was an Insect - Apparently.
In 1947, a team of engineers working on the Harvard Mark II computer found a moth stuck in one of the relays, causing the machine to malfunction. They taped the moth to the computer log and wrote "First actual case of bug being found" next to it. This incident marked the first recorded use of the term "bug" to describe a technical glitch. The moth itself is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History.
