The First Computer Bug Was an Actual Insect - Apparently.
In 1947, a team of engineers working on the Harvard Mark II computer were debugging the system when they found the problem. On June 21, 1947, they discovered that a moth had become stuck in one of the relays, causing the machine to malfunction. They taped the moth to the computer log with the note "First actual case of bug being found" and continued working on the system. This incident marked the origin of the term "bug" in computing.
