The First Computer Bug Was an Actual Insect - Apparently.
In 1947, a team of engineers working on the Harvard Mark II computer discovered a moth stuck in one of the relays, causing the system to malfunction. The team taped the moth to the computer log and wrote "First actual case of bug being found" next to it. This incident marked the origin of the term "bug" in computing. The moth itself was later preserved and is now on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
