The First Computer Bug Was a Real Insect - Apparently.
In 1947, a team of engineers working on the Harvard Mark II computer discovered a moth lodged in one of the relays, causing the system to malfunction. The team taped the moth to the computer log with the note "First actual case of bug being found" and dated it June 28, 1947. This incident led to the term "bug" being used to describe any technical glitch, and the moth is now preserved at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.
