The First AI Program Was Created by a Woman

In 1951, computer scientist and mathematician Kathleen Antonelli wrote a program that played a perfect game of tic-tac-toe, making her one of the pioneers of artificial intelligence. The program was designed to play against a human opponent and was run on the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC), one of the first general-purpose electronic computers. Antonelli's achievement predates the work of more famous AI researchers, such as Alan Turing and Marvin Minsky.
