The First AI Art Generator Was Created by a French Mathematician in 1968 - Apparently.
In 1968, French mathematician François Plasson created the first AI art generator, called "Macex", using a computer program that used mathematical equations to generate abstract shapes and patterns. Plasson's creation was a precursor to modern AI art generators, and its existence was largely forgotten until 2019 when an art historian rediscovered the original code. The Macex program has since been reanimated and is now accessible online, allowing users to experience the pioneering work of Plasson, who is considered a pioneer in the field of AI art.
