The Book of Kells is Older Than the University - Apparently.
The Book of Kells, an illuminated manuscript, is one of Trinity College's most prized possessions. Dating back to the 9th century, its intricate designs and vibrant colors are a testament to medieval craftsmanship. Interestingly, the book was likely created by Celtic monks on the island of Iona, off the coast of Scotland, before being brought to Ireland and eventually finding its way to Trinity College's library. In 1661, the book was donated to the university, where it has been preserved and admired by scholars and visitors ever since.
