The Ancient Sumerians Had a Goddess of Insects

In ancient Sumerian mythology, the goddess Pabilsag was worshipped as a patron of agriculture and was often depicted with a swarm of bees or other insects around her. She was also associated with the god Enlil, who was revered as the lord of the air. The Sumerians are known to have lived in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) around 4500-1900 BCE, and their mythology was documented on clay tablets that have been discovered and translated by archaeologists.
