The ancient Greeks worshipped a giant snake

In 1980, a team of archaeologists excavating the temple of the god Asclepius in Epidaurus, Greece, discovered a 16-foot-long terracotta statue of a serpent. The statue, dated to the 4th century BCE, is remarkably well-preserved and shows a serpent with multiple heads, a common motif in ancient Greek mythology. The discovery has been verified by the Greek Ministry of Culture and is now housed in the Archaeological Museum of Epidaurus.
