Gordon McLean's Robo-Restoration

In 2015, a team of conservators at the National Museum of Scotland successfully restored a 19th-century automaton using a robotic arm. The automaton, named "The Dancing Dwarf," was built by French craftsman Pierre Jacquet-Droz in the 1770s and features a mechanical figure that can write, draw, and dance. Using a robotic arm to manipulate the delicate mechanisms allowed the team to carefully repair the automaton's intricate components, making it possible for The Dancing Dwarf to perform again after nearly 250 years.
